Gyeongju is known as "the museum without walls" because of the city's number of cultural properties and archaeological sites.
Gyeongju embraces Buddhism, science, and vibrant ancient culture that blossomed by the artistry of the Silla people and the great spirits of Hwarangdo that enabled the unification of the three kingdoms. -
In the Gyeongju Historic Area, registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, you'll see the Daereungwon Tomb Complex, featuring 23 tombs of kings and nobles of Silla, and the Gyochon Traditional Village of Choi Clan, which has practiced Korean-style noblesse oblige for 12 generations.
You’ll also see the Woljeonggyo Bridge (the largest wooden bridge in Korea) near the village and the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok(one of the finest masterpieces among the bells found in Korea) in the Gyeongju National Museum.
